Silver Lake Farms welcomes beginners and more experienced gardeners to its workshops.
Class limit is 15 people accepted on a first-come basis. You have to register for each workshop.
You'll learn how to create a happy, healthy, natural environment for growing food and flowers from seed, and pick up tips for saving water and money. I'll share with you a natural approach to urban farming in L.A. and steer you towards thinking about the process as a whole.
Local is the new organic. It doesn't matter how small the space, everything you grow that you would normally buy - especially if you grow it sustainably - is good for the planet. Local food and flowers save fuel, packaging and help build communities. Just-picked food is more nutritious. As for locally-grown pesticide-free flowers, these are hard to find.
NEW! Cooking Classes A series of fun, affordable cooking classes designed around cooking with seasonal vegetables - from the garden, the farmers' market or
your local CSA. Think: Cuisine du marché.
Urban Farming Location: This is a roaming event. People who sign up for Urban Farming volunteer at local farms, community gardens and homesteads to help out with some of the work. Urban Farming
is about connecting people with L.A's urban agriculture movement. If you need volunteers,
let me know.
